19th ANNUAL BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF ACADIANA
RUNNING OF THE DUCKS -- June 13, 2009
This year’s Running of the Ducks was held at Acadian Village in Lafayette, La. It is a huge
fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Club of Acadiana. There were a total of 17,000 ducks
purchased for the race and we were very proud to be a part of such a great community event.
Dexcomm has answered calls for the pre race sales and information since 2004, but this year
also participated in the event as a corporate sponsor.
We were given an inflatable duck to decorate for the sponsor competition. The theme was
“The Good, the Bad, and the Duckling.” Several of our employees brainstormed ideas for the
competition and the end result was a gun slinging duck representing Dexcomm as the Message
Sheriff. He wore a yellow badge, brown vest with our company logo on the back, a blue
handkerchief, an old cowboy hat, boots and spurs. He was sitting on top of a bail of hay with
a riding blanket and a stick horse. There were nine entries in the competition and we were
given First place for our Duck.
The race was a huge success for the Boys & Girls Club as well as Dexcomm because it was a day
that we were able to give back to the community.
